How the AI roof cost calculator works.
The calculator turns a roof size and material into a real Florida installed-cost range, with the breakdown behind it. Here is what it does, where the numbers come from, and what it can and cannot tell you yet.
What the calculator does
You pick a roof size, from 1,000 to 3,500 square feet, and a material: asphalt shingle, architectural shingle, metal, tile, or slate. The calculator returns an installed price range for Florida in 2026, split into a low, typical, and high figure, and it shows the full cost breakdown: materials, labor, tear-off and disposal, and permit and inspection. On the shingle pages it also recommends specific Florida-priced products at that price point.
Where the pricing comes from
The material prices are real Florida per-square figures, captured from Florida retailer pricing and triangulated with published installed-cost ranges, then scaled to your roof size. Asphalt and architectural shingle pricing is real and Florida-specific; metal, tile, and slate currently use industry-reference estimates while Florida pricing is sourced. The budget estimator

What it cannot do yet
Today the estimate is size-based: you tell us the roof size. It does not yet measure your roof automatically from your address or from aerial imagery, so it does not know your exact area, pitch, or roof complexity. Those factors move the real price, which is why the calculator gives a range and why we always recommend a measured, itemized quote from a licensed Florida contractor before you commit. Automatic measurement from an address is on the roadmap.

The calculator and the cost pages are free, need no signup, and do not ask for payment. Nothing you enter is sold or shared. Use the ranges to frame your budget and your conversations, then confirm the number with a contractor who has measured the roof.
